TRAVEL DOCUMENT

Those individuals whose passports have expired or who are no longer in the possession of a travel document and wish to travel to Romania, can always solicit the issue of a travel title.

The travel document allows its bearer to travel to Romania exclusively and only within a limited period of time - 30 days. This title is only valid for entry to Romania and cannot be used for exiting the country.

ATTENTION:  Those individuals who travel to Romania with a travel document, must ensure that they are in the possession of all necessary documents provided by the law in force and that the issue of a new passport is planned well in advance so that they may be able to continue traveling abroad.

Necessary documents for the issue of a travel document:

  • Fully completed and signed off application 11.1.a

  • The expired passport, both the original and the photocopy of the first four pages.

  • Police report bearing the registration of the lost or stolen passport, if the case.

  • Identical and recent color passport photos.

  • Photocopy of some Romanian identity or civil status documents.

  • Consular fee: CAN$70.00 in cash or money order.

The actual application will be sent to Romania. The approval or refusal of issue of the travel document will be communicated only after verifications are made by Police in the individual’s domicile locality. This procedure takes approximately 7-10 business days.

Those solicitants, whose passports expired within a shorter period than 12 months, can be issued the travel title on the same day they have completed and filed the application and paid the consular fee.
