    At the Canadian Military Forces Base of Borden, on the 6th of October 2005, has been celebrated the International Day of the Officers with the participation of the attendants of this school.
    Alongside others countries like Russia, Ukraine, Hungary, Latvia, Macedonia, etc, Romania organized a beautiful presentation stand with informative materials and images.
    The nine participating Romanian officers have got words of high appreciation from the Directory School Board, for the professional training results and for the wonderful presentation of the evening.
    The presence of the General Consul of Romania at Toronto, Mr. Nicanor Teculescu , stressed the importance of this major event for a better way of cooperation and multicultural knowledge.

    On May 11, 2005 Consul General of Romania, Mr. Nicanor Teculescu, participated in Woodstock , Ontario, at an event dedicated to the memory of Canadian Lt. colonel Joseph Whiteside Boyle. On this occasion the Romanian representative met the President of Joe Boyle Repatrition Committee, Mr. Edwin Bennett, the Deputy Mayor, Mr. Jack Dunn, the President of Cultural Society "Miorita", Mrs. Maria Cojocaru and other representatives of Woodstock.
    J. Boyle was born in Toronto and came to Woodstock with his family in 1872. He worked at various jobs before attaining great success as a prospector and entrepreneur in the Yukon. At the outbreak of the First World War, Boyle raised, financed and equipped a fifty-man machine gun contingent. Determined to help the war effort further, he headed an allied mission to Russia in 1917 to help reorganize the railway system. His adventures soon took him to Romania where he became a confidant of the Royal Family. He was charged with obtaining famine relief for the Romanian people and with negotiating a peace treaty with Russia. Much honoured for his efforts, Boyle died in England. On April 26, 1983, Boyle's remains, exhumed from England , came in Woodstock and, on a very emotional ceremony were reburied.

    On April 25, 2005, the President of Romania Traian Basescu, together with Prime Minister Calin Popescu – Tariceanu, signed Romania’s EU Accession Treaty, at Luxembourg. The Accession Treaty was signed by the representatives of all the 25 EU member states. For Romania, it was signed too by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mihai Razvan Ungureanu and the Chief Negotiator with EU, Mr. Leonard Orban.

    On Saturday, February 26, 2005 the Consulate General of Romania hosted the screening of the artistic documentary "Solitude in minor blue" by director Florin Zamfirescu. The movie focuses on the famous artist, sculptor and painter, NicaPetre, present in the audience together with many other artistic personalities and representatives of the Romanian Community.

    Friday, February 11, 2005, the Romanian artist, Mihaela Gongescu, presented her first solo show of paintings “Emotional Structure” at the Waterloo Community Arts Centre. Last year, Mrs. Gongescu, won the Kitchener-Waterloo Society of Artists Gold Award for her painting “Urban Twilights”. The Consul General of Romania, Mr. Nicanor Teculescu, Kitchener-Waterloo MPP Mrs. Elisabeth Witmer and local politicians attended the exhibit’s opening reception. This remarkable event benefits of the support of the Romanian Association - ARTA and the Kitchener-Waterloo Society of Artists.

    It is for the very first time and on the occasion of the National Day of Romania that on December 01, 2004 the Romanian flag proudly showed its colors on the mast in front of the building of the Parliament of Ontario. In the presence of both Mr. Phil McNeely, member of Parliament of the Province of Ontario and Mr. Nicanor D. Teculescu, Consul General of Romania, the ceremony represented the respects that were paid to Romania and to the Canadian Romanians.

    On June 18, 2004 the exhibition „Stephen the Great - 500 years”, occasioned by the commemoration of half a millennium since the Romanian ruler's death, was opened at the Embassy of Romania in Ottawa. In the context of that event, the ambassador of Romania to Canada, His Excellency Mr. Liviu Maior, handed the “Faithful Service Order in Commander Rank” to Mr. Jean Taranu, a prominent personality of the Romanian-Canadian community and a former chairman of the Romanian-Canadian Association (RCA).

    June 9-11, 2004. a Romanian Economic delegation formed by Mr. Lucian Biro, Secretary of State, Romanian National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control, Mr. Petrisor Peiu, Vice President, Romanian Agency for Foreign Investments and many Romanian representatives of private companies paid a visit to Toronto. The Consulate general hosted a business round table "Investment climate in Romania" with the goal to convince Canadian companies - Time to invest in Romania: NOW!

    On Saturday, June 5, 2004, Romanian students of Toronto participated at a celebration in tribute to the upcoming Olympic Games in Athens, an event organized by Toronto District School Board and the Greek Community of Metropolitan Toronto at Herb Carnegie Centennial Arena.
    Special thanks to all Romanian students and their professors who represented Romania.

    On Sunday, the 7th of March, 2004 and under the tireless endeavor of Father Ioan Pop, “All Saints” Church, the first Romanian (orthodox) church built after 1990 was inaugurated in Scarborough. His Eminence, IPS Nicolae, Archbishop of the Romanian Orthodox Church Archdiocese in America and Canada provided the religious service. In the presence of Mr. Liviu Maior - the Ambassador of Romania in Canada - and Mr. Nicanor Teculescu, General Consul of Romania in Toronto a large number of religious people attended the ceremony. The new church, situated on 545 Danforth – Scarborough – represents not only a religious symbol of the Romanian orthodox community, but also a symbol of unity and success of the Romanian-Canadians.

    We are delighted to announce that on Saturday, the 6th of March, 2004 Mr. Nicanor Teculescu, Consul General of Romania in Toronto inaugurated the “Mihai Eminescu” Romanian Cultural Center. The important event took place at the Consulate General of Romania in Toronto. In the presence of both His Excellency, Mr. Liviu Maior - the Ambassador of Romania in Canada – and His Eminence Nicolae, Archbishop of the Romanian Orthodox Church Archdiocese in America and Canada, numerous personalities of the Romanian community thereby present, eulogized the new Romanian center open to important events that will affirm and promote the Romanian culture and spirituality, our mother land Romania as well as the Romanian people.
